An environmental declaration is a verified way to present a product's environmental impact. An EPD includes lifecycle impacts throughout the entire lifespan of a product, from raw material acquisition to disposal. These impacts are calculated through a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). While the environmental declarations are compiled on behalf of the company, they are verified by an independent third party. During verification, an impartial expert ensures that the calculations are consistent and comply with the requirements set for EPD preparation. The accuracy and comprehensiveness of the provided data are also verified.<\/p>\n
Environmental declarations are becoming essential product documents, especially in the construction industry. According to current building regulations, construction materials falling under the EN 15804 standard are required to have an environmental declaration to enable accurate carbon footprint calculations for buildings. The calculation of a building\u2019s carbon footprint is based on the EU's Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD), which aims to promote low-carbon and energy-efficient construction.
